Today I have given you the choice between life and death, between blessings and curses.
Now I call on heaven and earth to witness the choice you make.
Oh, that you would choose life, so that you and your descendants might live!
--Deuteronomy 30:19
Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death. Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew.”
He will repay all people as their actions deserve.
--Proverbs 24:11-12
Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed.
Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.
--Proverbs 31:8-9
You shall not murder.
--Exodus 20:13
Now is the time that we need courageous, strong, and clear biblical leadership in both the Church and government.
Sadly, we live in a culture where many of our “leaders” have been bought by the highest bidder and have “sold their souls” for money. Praise God for leaders who stand up for what is biblically right! Thank God for leaders who stand for truth. Praise God for leaders who understand and are courageous enough to do what is right!
Praise God for the leaders in the state of Alabama who have taken a bold and righteous stand and enacted what appears to be the strongest legislation in our nation against the tragedy of abortion.
Abortion is premeditated murder, and back in 1973, the Supreme Court through its Roe v. Wade decision gave permission for Americans to commit murder. It was the wrong decision when it was made, and it has been wrong for the last 46 years. Praise God for leaders who will seek to set right that which is wrong!
How tragic it is that leaders in both the Church and government try to justify the taking of innocent life. Murder is taking innocent life. Therefore, abortion is simply another word for murder.
Tragically, there are many men and women who have been bought by those with the money to “buy” them. And so many of those individuals speak passionately, as if one can somehow justify the taking of a precious baby's innocent life.
It’s so sad, but with regards to this matter of abortion, there has been much deception, misleading, and lying. Many in our culture, including those who say they are believers, have taken the word “murder” and sought to substitute it with words like "abortion," "reproductive rights," and "euthanasia." It's as if they believe that murder is acceptable sometimes if we just give it a new name. Yet whatever name you give the act of taking innocent life, it is still clearly wrong according to the Word of God. Abortion is murder, specifically first-degree murder. It’s clearly against the Word and the will of God. There is not a right way to do wrong.
The God we serve is merciful and full of loving kindness and forgiveness. He clearly tells us in His Word, “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9).
Our blessed heavenly Father is without question a God of forgiveness. What we are to do is confess our sins and where we have done wrong, repent of it, and ask Him to forgive us. Our Father is full of grace and mercy; He forgives and heals. Great is the need for us –- as individuals and as a nation – to repent and ask for His forgiveness for this national sin.
Let us as the Church of Jesus Christ pray and passionately encourage the rest of our nation to courageously take the kind of action the leaders in Alabama have taken. And let us do our part to help end the tragedy of legalized abortion in the U.S. and in the world – now.
