Stop feeding the monster

The civil unrest in this nation will soon push us over the edge. May God help us when it does. And what will usher in this unrest? Politicians and their hacks willing to say or do anything to win an election.

The news media rakes in billions while the American people become more divided. There is no defense for what is happening on either side of the political aisle. It irks me to think of how politicians defend their inner circles but lampoon others for the same errors in judgment.

I can proudly say I did not vote for Barack Obama in either election. And if Donald Trump or Hillary Clinton is any indication of what is in store for the future of this republic, I can only pray the American people will come together and hold their elected officials accountable.

While people tell me Obama has been treated worse than any president in history, I find it obvious that those people don't read. Obama has operated with very little resistance. His approval ratings are in the 50s, despite his miserable job performance. If you believe otherwise, then you are drinking the Kool-Aid and refuse to see facts.

An argument based on a negative will not win. Figure this logic: "President Obama saved us from what could have been another great depression." That statement, if applied to any other prediction, would not stand up as evidence. If Obama had done absolutely nothing to stimulate the economy, then we would have had a three percent growth. Our growth has been less than three percent during his eight years in office, and for the last two years, we have been at less than two percent growth. So that argument may work on the school playground, but it would have no place in any serious debate about economics.

What is more disturbing than what someone said years ago in a private conversation is the fact that some people today rely on the mainstream media and Hollywood entertainers as their purveyors of truth. But they cannot be further from the truth.

Wake up, America. What is truly evil is when good people witness evil deeds and do absolutely nothing about it. I hear many people say, I won't vote for either candidate ... I will just stay at home." To them I say do so at your own peril and remember that when the manure hits the fan, it never spreads evenly.

The way to cure this cancer destroying our nation is to stop feeding the monster a seven-course meal: Pride, greed, gluttony, wrath, sloth, envy, and lust. Beloved, let's remember what the Scripture says:

"For all that is in the world — the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life — is not from the Father but from the world." --John 2:16
